In the mid ’60s, Americans demanded a compact SUV that was capable on any terrain, so Ford introduced the Bronco. Our 1966 Ford Bronco was produced in November of 1965 out of Michigan, making it one of the earlier Broncos to roll off the assembly line as production started in August of 1965. Once we found that our Bronco was a very early uncut vehicle, we decided to focus on a factory-style restoration for the true auto-enthusiast. We dropped in a brand-new factory-correct 170ci straight six-cylinder engine and rebuilt the three-on-the-tree manual transmission. Naturally, we finished the vehicle in Wimbledon White, a factory color for 1966. Our Bronco sports an all new American Autowire chassis harness, electric windshield wipers, vintage air conditioning, a freshly coated floor, all new wiring, lighting, and seating (the seat frames are original, but the seats themselves were recovered and re-foamed). We also cleaned and coated the engine bay, frame, and underbody and added new accessories, knobs, and switches. To give it a little attitude, we installed a Wild Horses 3.5″ suspension lift along with some larger off-road wheels and tires to complement the look. This vehicle is a rare tribute to the first Broncos that rolled off the assembly line. It is a head-turner with true classic appeal.
